Who we serve
We focus on students of color (Black/African American, Indigenous, Pacific Islander, Latinx, and Southeast Asian) most underrepresented on college campuses. The majority of our scholars are low income and will be first in their family to graduate from college. Rainier Scholars – Tacoma is a great fit for students who demonstrate curiosity, enjoy challenges and love to learn new things.
- Currently enrolled in 4th grade in Tacoma Public Schools or a surrounding district
- Identifies as a student of color (Black/African American, Indigenous, Pacific Islander, Latinx, and Southeast Asian)
- At or approaching grade level in reading and math
Family information meetings
These meetings offer an opportunity to hear about our comprehensive program, hear from a current parent and scholar or alumni, have questions answered and get info on how to start your application. If your family is interested in applying to Rainier Scholars, we invite you to attend one of our family information meetings. Families must attend an information meeting in order to apply.
